Law enforcement officials announced on Monday that they had successfully thwarted a elaborate plan to explode explosive devices at several locations belonging to two American companies on New Year's Eve in the LA region. The operation followed the apprehension of individuals part of an extremist offshoot espousing anti-corporate and anti-government beliefs.

Suspects Apprehended During Isolated Practice

Four people were arrested last Friday in the remote area situated east of Los Angeles while they were reportedly rehearsing their intended strike. Prosecutors showed from above reconnaissance footage to reporters, that captured the individuals carrying a sizeable obscure item to a surface. Law enforcement noted that the arrests took place prior to the group could put together a working IED.

Identities of the Accused Made Public

According to the public court documents, the four suspects listed are Audrey Illeene Carroll, 30; Zachary Aaron Page, 32 years old; Dante Gaffield, 24; and Tina Lai, who is 41. Each of them are said to be from the greater Los Angeles region.

Alleged Motivation and Group Affiliations

Although prosecutors did not clearly describe a rationale, they said the suspects are members of a splinter group called the Turtle Island Liberation Front. This entity according to documents advocates for "the working class to rebel and combat against capitalism," according to the criminal complaint.

Each suspect is charged with involve conspiracy and owning a bomb. Officials stated that further counts are anticipated in the weeks ahead.

Elements of the Alleged "Midnight Sun Operation"

Authorities said that one of the individuals had devised a detailed plan last month to target multiple business locations across Southern California on New Year's Eve. The locations were characterized as "like Amazon" logistical warehouses.

"This scheme was detailed," a prosecutor stated. "It contained a precise guide to make bombs … and listed multiple targets across the county of Orange and Los Angeles."

As per the probe and the complaint, the plot called for positioning backpacks filled with complex IEDs that were planned to be set off at the same time at midnight on New Year's Eve at five sites. New Year's Eve was identified as an opportune time as the document indicated "celebratory explosions will be going off at this time so explosions will be less likely to be noticed."

An eight-page manually written blueprint, called "OPERATION MIDNIGHT SUN," suggested that more targets could be added. The locations were categorized as assets and buildings operated by two distinct corporations involved in activities affecting commerce.

Long-term Schemes and Materials Found

The investigation also revealed that two members in the faction had talked about subsequent attacks targeting ICE agents personnel and cars with IEDs in 2026. One individual reportedly noted that such strikes "would take some of them out and frighten the rest of them."

Such discussions were allegedly planned both at an in-person meeting in Los Angeles and through an encrypted messaging app.

Photos featured in the court documents show a remote camp with what officials identified as IED-construction items scattered on plastic folding tables.

Official documents details that the suspects "each brought bomb-making components to the site, such as different sizes of PVC pipes, identified as a chemical compound, charcoal, fuel powder, powdered sulfur, and items to be used as fuses, among others."

The scheme also contained guidance on how to construct the explosives and how to not leave behind evidence that could be linked back to the group. The suspects had in the recent past acquired chemical ingredients and other materials, via acquisitions from major websites.

Operation and Subsequent Actions

The FBI took action last week as the individuals were rehearsing the attack in the remote area near a desert community. "They owned everything they were necessary to construct an working IED at that place," the attorney stated.

As part of carried out searches, officials reportedly discovered posters for the Turtle Island Liberation Front at one individual's home that called for "Down with America", and "ICE Must Go". At another accused's residence, police located a copy of the elaborate attack blueprint.

The suspects were arrested peacefully. They were scheduled to make a court appearance in Los Angeles on Monday afternoon.
