Indeed, it's Brimming with Absurdity, Extreme Hosting and Self-Help Jargon. Yet I Truly Adore Meghan's Festive Episode.

No concerned with the time of year, it's perpetually open season for scrutiny on the Meghan Markle's TV show, With Love, Meghan. Critics, from seasoned journalists to online pundits, have seldom found such common ground as when enthusiastically shredding the series' first and second seasons to pieces. The prevailing view was that a more egregious regal scandal had hardly ever taken place than the notorious pretzel re-packaging incident.

Now, like a merry renegade master, she makes a comeback once again with a "Christmas Special" (or a holiday episode). But this time, it's different. The standard components viewers are accustomed to – psychobabble word salads, overzealous entertaining – are still present, but framed of a yuletide episode, suddenly it all makes sense. The pieces have fallen into place; it's a ideal seasonal storm.

Now, Meghan resembles the oddball family member at Christmas celebrations everywhere – dispensing random tips, and delivering the odd random outburst. ("I love spinach!" … "A tradition has to have a beginning." … "A tree is part of my memory and love of the holiday season.") She's a bit of a character, but her presence is familiar and strangely comforting. And she appears pleased; she's inflicting a bit of damage.

She understands her each tiny facial movement, utterance and look will be picked apart and criticised, but still appears relaxed and remarkably at ease.

Perhaps this is the initial instance in history where that old chestnut – "Ignore them, they're just jealous" – might be true. Since, you know what?, everything in Meghan's Holiday Celebration honestly feels lovely. Yes, it's all awkwardly over-the-top, foolishness and flamboyant – but doesn't that represent precisely what Christmas is for? And the talk she's talking might be ridiculous, but the life she leads seems authentically impeccably styled.

Whatever she turns her beautifully manicured, diamond-adorned hand to, she accomplishes with panache. Her recipes looks tasty, the holiday arrangement she crafts is breathtaking, her gifts are practically too exquisite to tear into. Not a single thing is mediocre or ugly – even the way she fastens her apron is creative and fashionable. She doesn't bung a dish in the oven, it "goes for a spin", and she wraps wrapping paper like an origami guru. She also seems to be thoroughly enjoying herself throughout. How could any cynical observer not be convinced, bursting with seasonal cheer and left with a deep longing for crafted festive snaps or a crudites platter where greens is organized in the form of a Christmas ring?

Meghan was once an actress for a living, of course, but despite that, after the intensity of examination she has weathered since she started dating Prince Harry, the love child of Meryl Streep and Judi Dench would have difficulty behaving this authentically. Her decision to change or even moderate her routine, even though it being so constantly, internationally ridiculed, is weirdly comforting. In our volatile world, here is something we can depend on: Meghan will stay true to form, no matter what. We will consistently know where we are with her.

If you're remaining skeptical of what she's selling, a thought that will certainly come as a relief: you are not obligated to. There isn't mandatory conscription these days, and were it to return, it would be improbable to include watching With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration. If, however, you willingly check it out and are gripped with jealousy about her picture-perfect Christmas, there is hope either. Whether you're a duchess or a data administrator, no kid completely grasps the effort and hard work their parent expends in the holiday season. So you can console yourself by envisioning Archie and Lilibet's faces when they reveal a calligraphy note that says, 'I love you because you are brave,' from a handcrafted holiday countdown, in place of a sweet treat.
