Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched operations across the region in response for a significant and continuing assault against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is not yet known and the United States has remained silent.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have shot down missiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.

Additional Developments

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with great effectiveness and shot down a several projectiles," it added.

The statement noted debris fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
