Mohamed Salah Extends Statement to Teammates, Says Curtis Jones

The Liverpool midfielder has revealed that the Egyptian forward apologised to the team following the controversy from his recent interview.

What Happened

The striker was dropped from a European match after making accusations and claiming his relationship with manager had soured.

“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, I'm sorry.’”

The head coach has refused to comment publicly on whether he got an explanation from the player.

Team Unity

Jones insisted that the team's response remained positive. “He was his usual self, he had a big smile on his face and everybody was exactly the same with him,” the midfielder explained.

He also noted that a competitor wanting to play is less of an issue. “I get that there are certain ways you can express yourself,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just sit out, then I think that’s more of an issue.”

On-Field Response

The team's performance have remained strong in the matches since the situation. Jones believes the forward's comments were never meant to cause disruption.

“If passion has boiled over, the source has been from a good place,” the midfielder stated. “We’re past that now and we’re gelling well as a team, playing well and starting to win games.”
